Why Your Brand Should Go Mobile

Why Your Brand Should Go Mobile

Advertising and marketing trends are constantly evolving, and to keep your brand in front of consumers, you’ll have to keep up with those trends.  At this moment, all research is pointing to mobile.  Many brands and companies have adopted this channel, and you should too.  Here are a few reasons your brand or business should go mobile and some types of apps to consider.

Increase your Audience

This is one important reason to go mobile.  Increasing your audience and consumer base can be challenging, but once you have momentum, a mobile app can grow your audience exponentially.  A mobile app can fill a void in your business model allowing your company to scale and grow.

Data Collection

This could be one of the most powerful features of bringing your brand mobile.  Your consumer base may choose to share more data with you via mobile if it fills a void or provides a much more personalized experience (read our blog about personalized mobile apps).  Data is a powerful tool that you can use to increase sales, grow your consumer base, expand product lines, and much more.  Data is one of the highest-priced commodities, so an investment in mobile is an investment that will most likely pay off very well in the long-run.

Now, if you understand the benefits of going mobile but are unsure how to deliver your brand via mobile, here are some types of apps your brand can use.

Entertainment Apps

Apps can be a variety of things, but some brands find that entertaining apps serve the best purpose for their brand or campaign.  For example, Coca-Cola has numerous branded apps that entertain users and help solve some daily problems.  The CocaCola® app lets users play games, watch videos, and earn rewards.  This type of app offers a mix of entertainment and functionality, all while promoting the Coca-Cola brand.

Content Apps

A content app serves the purpose of providing users branded content right to their mobile device. Whether it is dinner recipes, fashion trends, or workouts, these apps deliver branded content to loyal consumers.

There are many benefits to bringing your brand mobile, as well as many different app types.  If you’d like to learn more about the benefits and types of apps, visit our website at pioneerapplications.com or reach out to the Pioneer team.

App Redesign

App Redesign – When Is It Needed?

Let’s say your business is already up to speed and has an app.  When is an app redesign needed, and how do you decide what you need to change?

Design changes just as quickly as technology, so it’s important to know that at some point, your mobile app is going to need to go through a remodel.  So how do you know when it is the right time?

Low Conversion Rates

Is your user base not growing?  Are users bored or not impressed with the app?  Are sales weak?  If any of these apply to your app, it might be time to polish up your app’s UX. (Read more about UX vs. UI)

Low Ratings and Negative Comments

Is your app getting negative reviews and minimal stars on the app store?  If so, take advantage of the negative comments and determine if your UI/UX design needs changing.  If you are getting low ratings, it’s probably a good time for a redesign.

Modifying your Target Audience

If you modified your target audience just like changing your tactics to captivate your audience, you’d need to change the design of your app.  Your app will have to be modified to accommodate your new audience, as well as your product vision and marketing strategy.

Your Company Rebranded

This seems pretty straightforward; if your company has just undergone a rebranding, you’ll want to ensure that your branding is consistent across all platforms, including mobile.  This is an indicator that a mobile app redesign is needed.

How to Know What to Change

Like above, user feedback is incredibly valuable when understanding the changes needed to ensure your app’s success.  Analyze all user feedback as well as analytics to get an idea of the changes necessary. Don’t be afraid to conduct some research, whether it is surveying your users or researching the competitor, research can lead you in the right direction when determining app changes.

WWDC 2020

WWDC 2020

Monday marks the start of Apple’s 31st WWDC! Unlike any year before, this year is virtual and free for everyone!  Let’s dive into the details of this year’s WWDC.

What is WWDC?

WWDC is Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference.  Every year Apple engineers, software developers, and people from all areas of the tech world come together to participate in in-depth sessions covering a wide variety of topics.  Apple uses this platform to showcase its new software and technologies to a variety of developers.

What are this year’s expected announcements?

We are expecting to hear an array of news from tvOS 14 to new in-house chips.  This online event will allow millions of developers to access the future versions of iOS, tvOS, macOS, watchOS, and iPadOS.

We are expecting Apple to announce the transition from Intel chips to chips made in-house.  This will give developers time to prepare for the change as the first Macs with these new chips aren’t expected until 2021.

We anticipate the unveiling of a newly redesigned iMac that will utilize the “iPad Pro design language” and feature thinner bezels of those on the Pro Display XDR.

We believe Apple will preview the new software updates that could be launched as soon as September 2020, which includes iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS 10.16, tvOS 14, and watchOS 7.

watchOS 7

Medical

It’s rumored that Apple may release an update to detect your blood oxygen levels for the Apple Watch. It is unknown if this will be something older models of the Apple Watch can detect.

Parental Features

It looks like watchOS 7 will be a blessing for parents as it’s believed Apple will allow parents to manage which apps can be used during specific hours and add additional features for managing your child’s Apple Watch.

Control Center

It’s believed that Apple will add new features to the control center for noise detection and sleep mode.

iOS 14

Third-Party Apps and Packs

Apple may be allowing users to set third-party apps as their default music, mail, and browser apps in place of Apple’s apps as well as allowing developers to create wallpaper options for the iPhone that can be installed in the Wallpaper section.

Home Screen Changes

You may see changes to your home screen with iOS 14.  Apple may allow users to view their home screen as a list so the user can see every app installed in one comfortable place.

Messages

Messages are expected to get a slew of features, including the ability to @mention someone in a group chat, retract iMessages, mark messages unread, and typing indicators for group chat.

There are expected to be many other announcements and unveilings, so we encourage you to follow Pioneer and drop-in on Apple’s WWDC 2020.

5 Steps Entrepreneurs Can Take to Adapt During Difficult Times

Proof that pandemics can accelerate innovation can be found as far back as the Black Death in Europe during the 1300s. The Plague eventually forced the people of the Late Middle Ages to reassess their medical practices — which were previously rooted in religion — and adapt them in favor of a more scientific approach, thereby moving the world towards modern medicine.

Tips for Deciding Who Develops Your App Idea

Nothing can be more challenging than swimming through a sea of mobile app developers and
trying to pick one to bring your vision to life. It can be a very challenging decision and a poor
one if you don’t do your research. Below are five tips Pioneer suggests for choosing your next
app developer.

iOS or Android

Make sure the developer can build on the platform you are looking for. The first thing
to do is to make sure they have the capability.

Specializations

Understand the market you want your app to service. For example, if you are in the
travel industry, try to find a developer who understands the industry and can work with
you to bring your app to life.

Capabilities

Every vision has a unique feature, and so can every app. Ensure that the developer you
are looking for can bring specific special features to your app.

Enthusiasm

This can seem like a non-technical aspect of searching for a developer. Still, it is just as
important as technical expertise. If you are communicating with a developer and they
do not have enthusiasm for your vision, it may not be the right choice. You want a
developer that is going to be just a passionate and excited as you are.

Portfolio

Lastly, you’ll want to consider the developer’s portfolio. This is the last tip on the list
because it isn’t the first thing you should consider. Some developers may have large
portfolios and well-known clients, but that doesn’t mean that the developer is right for
you. You should use a developer’s portfolio to get an idea as to what the developer has
accomplished.

We hope these tips will help you choose your next app developer!
